Greenhouse
Step into the Greenhouse
The Greenhouse is an extension of me in a way. It's where I feel truly at home, my happy place, my place of peace. Over the years it has undergone some serious changes with the biggest change being when we got rid of the old greenhouse and swapped it for the one stand there today. Back in January 2020, the decision was made to replace the existing greenhouse due to too many glass panes that were broken, the frame was warped due to ivy, jasmin and something prickly worming their way into the frame. It was thin glass, prone to break easily and I just wanted an updated space to grow my favourites.
Roll on March that same year and 11 days after the new Greenhouse got delivered, lockdown was ensued. The whole project of putting the new one up was a much bigger job than I originally thought. Not only was it difficult to remove the overgrown plants that destroyed the old greenhouse, the slabs the old greenhouse was standing on were so sunken in place that they needed lifting and levelling and with that, the outer support brick wall fell apart. In lockdown, with everything closed. Luckily soon after a local company was allowed to open and I could get my hands on cement to relay the brick wall.
