Spring is fully here!

Starting the month with the one day for the jokers amongst us.

The 12th to the 20th is Passover/ Pesach (Jewish) starting and ending at sundown.

The 13th is Palm Sunday (Christian), followed by St Tiburtius’ Day – this is the day cuckoos traditionally start singing (stopping on St John’s day, 24th June)

18th is Good Friday, and a bank holiday in all of the UK, Easter falls on Sunday 20 & Monday 21 (another bank holiday in the UK & Ireland.

Earth day is the 22nd and this years theme is “It’s our power, it’s our planet”

The 23rd is St George’s day, who is the patron saint of England. The 23rd also marks the start of British asparagus season (which’ll end on the summer solstice, 21st of June)

April’s full moon is on the 13th and called the Budding Moon, New Shoots Moon or Seed Moon. It doesn’t take much to understand why ☺️ the new moon this month is on the 27th and a super new moon like last month.

In the garden is happening lots!

Many things are on the go including the revamp of the “orchard”, spring bulbs are in full swing, greenhouse is slowly filling up, the dahlias are starting to wake up and grow shoots, all the seedlings are growing along, the luffas have never – ever – looked this good. They’re bigger now than they’ve ever been before planting in their final home. The cats are enjoying the outside more and me with them. Overnight greenhouse temperatures are going up meaning that I’ll soon be able to put my cold sensitive plants out there (more space indoors again – whoo!). I love spring and we’re only at the start of it 🥰🌷🌱🪻

The cherry trees are about to burst in blossom, its a promise of summer ripe fruits waiting to happen. The three blue berries on the patio are also full of buds. The white current is waking up as well and I’m even attempting to regrow my cucamelons from last year’s tubers. Not tried that yet so we’ll see how that goes. I’m not actually wanting to have them grow this year since I’m the only one that eats them!

Lots of plans for this month and I just need to find the time to get them done.
