J U L Y 🌾
And just like that we’ve rolled into the second half of the year. It’s mad how fast things are going sometimes. I just looked back to my June 1st photo of the greenhouse and the difference is massive! Tiny little seedlings vs what you see in the image here. Just nuts! I’m so glad I’ve spotted the first little tomatoes which means I really need to stay on top of watering regularly and not so haphazard as I tend to do (although sporadic, it does always eventually turn out ok).
This month start with the Islamic (Al Hijra) new year, year 1446, on the 6th that begins at the sighting of the crescent moon 🌙
Next up the bank holiday of Battle of the Boyne in Northern Ireland on the 12th.
Lots of sports happening this month with Wimbledon (women) on the 13th & (men) on the 14th. Also on the 14th is the UEFA Euro 2024 finals in Berlin.
The 15th sees St Swithin’s day (Christian), the birthday of Haile Selassie (Rastafarian) on the 23rd and the start of the Summer Olympics on the 26th in Paris.
This month’s full moon falls on the 21st and is known as the Hay moon, Wyrt moon, Mead moon or Buck moon 🌾🦌
July is a great month for flower pressing and for me it means I’ll be venturing out into fabric dying with flowers from the garden. In particular hammering flowers onto a T-shirt! I grew a particular cosmos specifically for it and I’m looking forward to doing something new.
For the rest, I still need to plant the last little seedlings out and I’m not sure I can be bothered with them. But I’ll chuck ‘em in, see what happens ☺️
Happy July! 🌾
