I feel it in the Earth. I smell it in the Air.

Autumn is near!

Happy 1st of September! We’re here! The time of a more peaceful end of summer has arrived. Having said that, today marks the start of the meteorological autumn.

This month with see my 7th wedding anniversary on the 2nd (how fast did that go?), Ganesh’s birth in the 7th. The Paralympics closing ceremony in Paris is on the 8th.

The Ethiopian New Year – Enkutatash – is on the 11th (Rastafarian), it’s the prophet Muhammad’s birthday on the 15th, which begins at the sighting of the crescent moon 🌙

The autumn equinox is on the 22nd and marks the start of the astronomical autumn, it’s the one I tend to go by, rather than the meteorological one (I feel it makes winter seem less long too). The 22nd also marks the Pagan celebration of Mabon.

It’ll be my dad’s birthday on the 25th and we’re closing the month off by Michaelmas Day (Christian) on the 29th.

There’s a good few birthdays for us to attend this month, friends for sure, sadly not my dad this year.

This month’s full moon is called the Harvest moon, wine moon or song moon and even blue corn moon across the Atlantic, and falls on the 18th. It’s also the first of 3 super moons 🌽

In the garden I’m starting to plan for the year ahead, thinking of moving tulip bulbs from one spot to another, starting to cut back long dead plants, harvest anything edible from the greenhouse, start slowing down the luffa in prep for their drying and make my annual Rainbow Garden Flatlay. I’m just waiting for a sunny dry day with maybe a dahlia or two more that’s open.

Have a good September! I sure will be 🍃🍂🍅🥬🫑✨
