Chive Blossom Vinegar

Saying something is ‘easy’ to do is something I’m not keen on saying. We all have various levels of experience, and what is ‘easy’ to some, is difficult to others (growing carrots is one of mine – can’t grow them to save my life!). However, this is really simple to make and all you do is chuck stuff in a jar with lid.

I’m yet to try it in dishes & salad dressings, but so far it’s looking beautifully pink and smells lovely and onion-y 🩷

This is my first time making it and recipe credit goes to Charley, for telling me how simple it is 🩷

Ingredients

Chive blossom Flowers
White wine vinegar
enough to cover the blossom
Jar/bottle with a lid

Directions

1. Collect your chive blossom flowers and place them into a jar
2. Fill the jar with the vinegar and make sure it covers the chive flowers
3. Close the jar and store in a dark cupboard for a week minimum

Once you are happy with the colour of your chive vinegar, you strain it through a fine mesh sieve (there may be some bugs in).
Store in the fridge and use in salads like you would normally. It has a lovely mild chive/oniony flavour and a beautifully pink colouring.

Enjoy! 🩷
