Strawberry Mojito

Is there anything nicer than picking some things from your garden or plot and turn it into something to drink? Specially if it’s fresh mint and fresh ripe red strawberries. This recipe uses my favourite type of rum, which is dark spiced rum, traditionally a mojito is made with white rum. I’d say, use what you like best. I think the deeper flavours of dark spiced rum work well with the sweet and tart of the strawberries and the fresh hint of the mint. Hope you enjoy!

Ingredients

fresh mint leaves
4-5 small strawberries
you can half them if big
2 tsp sugar
wedge of lime
ice cubes
big cubes work best
60ml dark spiced rum
or your rum of choice
soda water
to top up your glass

Directions

  1. Put strawberries, sugar and mint leaves in your glass and squeeze a lime wedge over it, chuck the wedge in your glass and muddle all ingredients together until the strawberries are smushed.
  2. Add ice cubes and pour over the rum.
  3. top up with soda water and give it all a light stir.

Enjoy! You could garnish with a sugar coated strawberry and some mint leaves.
