Tasting notes and description

A gourmet treat, my great grandfather (Swiss) had them growing on their French farmhouse roof! The flowers and foliage make very ornamental plants. Easy to grow, plants will crop for 4 to 5 years.

Uses

Cut as soon as the heads begin to open. The edible part is the fleshy, 'half-moon' shape at the base of each scale and the heart. Eat the fleshy base of the 'scales' dipped in oil & vinegar as well as the hearts. (recipe to follow)
